Looking Back at Our Married Student Housing, Urbana, Illinois, 1976-77

This photo (taken in 2015) is the apartment building where we lived in 1976-77 while studying at the University of Illlinois in Urbana-Champaign:

Missy and Weldon visited 2120 Orchard Street, #103 in Urbana, Illinois on October 4, 2015, while driving John's black 4x4 Toyota Pickup from Bowie, Maryland to Salt Lake City. Weldon is standing on the south side of the building.
Weldon and his younger brother Wilford drove a U-Haul from Idaho Falls to Urbana, Illinois in August 1976. When they arrived at this apartment house, they found their apartment trashed, dirty, and in need of painting. Wilford helped Weldon paint the apartment during the next few days, until Barbara and Anthea arrived at the Champaign airport and Wilford flew back to Idaho Falls.

Each floor has four apartments. Ours was on the bottom floor on the northwest side of the building. None of the apartments had air conditioning at the time. Wilford and Weldon went to Goldblatts (?) and purchased an air conditioner and installed it in the window. I see that window air conditioners are standard now.

Weldon attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from August 1976 until the end of July 1977, when he graduated with an M.S. degree in library science. (It was his second master's degree). In August 1977 Barbara and Anthea went with Weldon to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was music cataloger at the University Libraries of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
