World's First Nuclear Power Plant

The Experimental Breeder Reactor number 1 was the reactor that powered the city of Arco, Idaho--the first city to be powered by nuclear energy. EBR-1 is on the desert west of Idaho Falls, Idaho. We visited it in the late 1980's or early 1990's. Great Grandpa J. Richard Smith was a nuclear physicist and fusion expert at Idaho's National Reactor Testing Station.
